APT Spectra Reconstruction and Data Assessment

Of the successfully run samples, only the longest runs (ideally over 1 million ions) are considered for in depth analysis after a preliminary ranging of ions.
Final data are reconstructed using the CAMECA IVAS 3.8.4 software platform. The reconstructions are completed by manually fitting the time-of-flight mass spectrum iteratively using the voltage and bowl fitting parameters within the IVAS platform. The three-dimensional reconstruction of APT data is performed using published algorithms assuming a hemispherical tip shape and an electric-field dependent tip radius. Peak ranges can be defined as the entire visible peak or adjusted manually when large thermal tails were present. Once peak ranging is complete, APT tip reconstructions are generated and meaningful bulk chemical compositions can be subsequently determined. |
